■Features:

This sickle forged and fire-forged by one of Tosa's most skilled craftsmen
is a masterpiece made with meticulous care.

It is not a composite material (steel material made by joining base steel and steel using rolling rolls at a factory).

The sickle is repeatedly struck with a hammer, stretched, and fire-forged to remove impurities, break down the structure, and produce a tough, hard steel.

It could have some small scratches, flaws or bent, but they are the proof of handmade! The product seems rougher than machine made ones, but the quality is great, which you cannot feel with machine made one! We do not recommend this for those who do not like small irregularities, as this is a handmade, it could have some.

Better than a machete

I've had one of these scythes for about two years. Like it so much that I wanted a back up. Better than a machete for traveling through brush. Well made, can't break the handle. A bit tricky to sharpen, but worth it.

Thank you for your continued support! We're delighted to hear that the scythe has served you well for two years and that its durability and efficiency make it your go-to tool for traveling through brush.
We appreciate your feedback about sharpening—it can be a bit of a challenge, but it's definitely worth it for maintaining peak performance. If you ever need any sharpening tips, we're happy to share some techniques to make the process smoother.
Thanks again for choosing our tools—we're honored to be part of your work in the field!

I Love this tool because it changed my life for the better

This long handled ojika has cleared, maybe literally, tons of invasive asian bittersweet, bamboo, poison ivy, grape, multiflora rose, japanese honeysuckle, assorted non invasive brush, and tall grass.

It handles 2 inch trees easier than walking to get another tool, and it goes through 1 inch wood in a clean stroke if you hit it at the right angle.

But, it's also delicate enough to sever a single invasive rose cane in the middle of an azalea for example.

I originally bought this one because it had the longest handle of any ojika I could find online. But it would be nice if there were a model with an even longer handle!!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear how the long-handled Ojika has made such a positive impact for you—it’s incredible to see how versatile and effective it is in clearing invasive plants while maintaining the precision needed for delicate tasks. Your detailed feedback really showcases the craftsmanship and functionality of the tool.
We appreciate your suggestion about an even longer handle! Our commitment to continuous improvement means insights like yours are invaluable, and we'll certainly take this into consideration for future designs.
Thanks again for your support, and happy clearing!

Best tool for tall invasive grass and cane

Been using this sickle for over a year in Hawaii, to fight against guinea grass, tithonia, christmas berry, and other invasives. It makes quick work of the tall grass clumps, up to 13ft high, and on the tall grass, can be even faster than a gas string trimmer.
I've hit rocks with it, gently straightened it out again, and it just keeps going. It will easily remove small branches, or even strip the bark off of some problem trees.
I have never been more impressed by a tool - truly the best tool for the job.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience—what an incredible testament to the tool’s durability and performance. Tackling invasive species like guinea grass and tithonia is no small feat, and we’re honored that this sickle has become your go-to companion in the field.
The fact that it’s outpaced a gas string trimmer and held up even after contact with rocks speaks volumes about its craftsmanship. We’re especially grateful for your detailed insights—they help others understand just how versatile and resilient this tool can be.
Wishing you continued success in your work, and thank you again for your trust and support.

Great tool from a great company

This is a great working tool. It does the jobs i got it for perfectly. I am planning to purchase from this store again. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because the blade isn't perfectly straight. But like I said it's a working tool and does what it was made to do with no problems.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. We're truly glad to hear the tool is performing exactly as you hoped—it’s always rewarding to know our craftsmanship is helping get the job done right.
We also appreciate your honest note about the blade alignment. While it doesn’t affect performance, we understand how important those finer details can be, and we’ll be sure to pass your feedback along to our workshop team.
Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon—and thank you for your trust in us.
