Hedge Shears

hedge shears

Unlike pruning shears, hedge shears are designed not for cutting individual branches but for shaping the overall structure of trees and shrubs. They are generally large shears operated with both hands.
They are used for trimming hedges, ball-shaped plants, and topiaries—whether traditional or Western-style.

How to Use Hedge Shears

Hedge shears should be used without moving both hands simultaneously. With one hand holding the middle of the handle for stability, move the other hand to operate the shears. This way, the blades will not wobble, allowing for precise trimming.

How to Use Hedge Shears

When trimming the upper curved surfaces of ball-shaped plants or the tops of hedges, turning the shears upside-down helps achieve a beautiful round shape and allows for smooth operation.

To Prolong the Use of Hedge Shears

Here are some tips on usage precautions, maintenance methods, and storage techniques to help prolong the life of your hedge shears.

Regarding Usage
・For the first month of use, please start by cutting thinner branches to ensure the upper and lower blades properly break in and align.
・Please avoid twisting or forcing cuts, as it may cause injury or damage to the blades.

Regarding Maintenance
・After use, please wipe off any moisture or dirt from the blades and handles with a cloth.
・To prevent rust, regularly apply maintenance oils such as camellia oil to the entire blade.

Regarding Storage
・If you will not be using the shears for an extended period, please clean them and cover the entire blade with a case or cloth. Store them in a well-ventilated area.
