"AJIKATAYA" Handcrafted by Mutsumi Hinoura, the Japanese To-Hoku Type 6.0 Hatchet is single beveled and designed for right-handed users. The hatchet features a white oak handle and is made in Japan, ensuring top-notch quality. With a blade length of 180 mm (7.1"), blade height of 53mm (2.1"), and blade thickness of 7mm (0.28"), the hatchet weighs 555g (19.6oz) and comes with a wooden case. Ideal for cutting branches and twigs, the hatchet's individual differences make it unique and tough yet comfortable to use.
The product seems rougher than machine made ones, but the quality is great, which you cannot feel with machine made one! We do not recommend this for those who do not like small irregularities, as this is a handmade, it could have some. We will not accept any return requests and claims on small flaws proof of handmade.
To protect the blade from rust during shipment, we apply a specialized varnish coating.
As a result, the cutting performance may initially feel diminished.
The varnish will gradually wear off through regular use,
but if you wish to experience the blade’s true sharpness sooner,
it can be removed using nail polish remover or a similar lacquer thinner.
Please note that once the varnish is removed, the blade becomes more susceptible to rust.
We recommend thoroughly wiping off moisture after use and applying camellia oil or similar protective oil to maintain its condition.
