■Features:

Crafted by our seasoned handle artisan with over 60 years of experience in the blade industry, this straightening rod reflects our uncompromising attention to detail—from its carefully considered shape to the selection of premium wood.
Also known as a koji-bō or distortion correction rod, it allows for precise blade adjustment from both pushing and pulling directions. Its form is designed to follow the contour of the blade, minimizing stress and enabling delicate, controlled work.

The rod is made from white ash, a wood renowned for its luminous grain, light tone, and exceptional shock absorption. Its flexibility and durability have made it a trusted material for Major League baseball bats and tool handles alike.

Each piece is handcrafted by a master woodworker—from cutting and shaping to the final finish—with meticulous care. Through a four-stage sanding process, the rod achieves a smooth, tactile surface that preserves the wood’s natural texture and warmth.

To enhance stain resistance while retaining the original color and feel of white ash, we apply a Scandinavian-inspired soap finish—a subtle, breathable coating that complements the wood’s organic beauty.

■Caution:
We are not responsible for any damage to the knife, such as cracking or chipping, or any injuries sustained as a result of using this product. Please use with extreme caution. We
do not recommend using a straightening rod on knives with blades too thick to fit into cuts, such as DEBA knives.
If you are concerned about the surface of the knife rubbing against the surface, cover it with a cloth or masking tape before use.
As this is a handmade product, there may be slight variations in size and other aspects.

The blade can be adjusted in both pushing and pulling directions!

White Ash Pry Bar for Knives

Strain relief rod

This product features white ash wood, known for its beautiful grain and light, luminous tone.

White ash is prized for its excellent shock absorption and flexible yet resilient nature, making it highly resistant to breaking. Its exceptional strength has earned it a place in Major League baseball bats and the handles of various professional-grade tools.

■ Specially designed shape

The shape of the tip of the straightening rod is mainly I-shaped (this product) or X-shaped.
This product uses the I-shaped tip, which puts less strain on the blade being adjusted and is easier to use.

Shape of the tip of the distortion relief rod

● Type I (this product)

The blade can be adjusted in both the pulling and pushing directions, making it easy to perform delicate work.

In addition, the blade makes contact with the food in a contoured manner (surface), which reduces the strain on the blade.
The knife can be adjusted up to the thickness that can be inserted into the cut.
We do not recommend using a straightening rod to adjust blades that are too thick to fit into the cut, such as DEBA knives.

This product is for right-handed people, so if you are looking for a left-handed version, please contact us.

● X type (other products)

Since it can only be adjusted by pulling it towards you, you may need to switch to your left hand depending on the direction you want to adjust it.

It can be used by both right-handed and left-handed people, regardless of blade thickness.
Because the surface area that comes into contact with the blade is small, it may put stress on the blade, so it is not suitable for all users.

Furthermore, the details have been carefully chamfered, and
the craftsman's attention to detail can be seen everywhere, making this a masterpiece that we highly recommend.

In addition, in order to preserve the original white color and texture of white ash and increase its stain resistance,
we use a painting method originating from Scandinavia called soap finish.

■ How to use the distortion removal rod

● Check the blade condition

First, check the bend of the blade.

Checking the blade condition

● How to set

Distortion is adjusted on the spine side of the blade.
Make sure to clamp the blade on the straightening rod with the blade facing upwards.

When adjusting the base of the blade (the part closest to the handle), adjust the groove at the handle.

Adjusting the blade base

When adjusting the blade from the center to the tip, use the diagonal groove at the top.

Adjusting the cutting edge

● Adjustment method

Do not apply force all at once, but apply it slowly and gently, adjusting the strength.
The blade becomes thinner as you get closer to the tip, so apply less force.
If you apply too much force, it may bend in an unexpected direction or cause the blade to chip or break, so please be careful.

● Points to note

If you are concerned about the surface of the knife being scratched, please cover it with a cloth or masking tape before
use. We are not responsible for any damage to the knife, such as cracking or chipping, or any injury caused to customers as a result of using this product. Please use with extreme caution.

This product is made of wood, so leaving it wet may cause cracks or breakage.
Please wipe off any moisture from the knife before use and wipe it dry if it gets wet.
